The split puts NU at 13-10 overall and 3-2 in America East while Vermont is 9-15 and 3-2. Vermont won the early game 11-10 after a five-run rally in the bottom of the ninth. The teams play the third of the three-game series on Sunday at noon.
Thomson cruised through the Catamount lineup with 1-2-3 innings in the first and fourth and double plays in the in the sixth and seventh, including the game-ending play. Vermont scored its lone run in the second inning on an RBI-single by Nick Roberts.
Freshman catcher Dan Milano had a huge game with the bat, hitting a solo homerun in the third inning and an RBI-single in the fourth. Jeff Maher, in his first start as designated hitter, had a one-run single in the fourth that plated Paul Koslowski and then scored on Milano's single.

Centennial Field (Burlington, VT)The Huskies made up for a loss in the first game of the doubleheader with a 3-1 win over Vermont in the second game on Saturday at Centennial Field in Burlington, Vt. Husky hurler Jordan Thomson led NU to victory, pitching the complete seven-inning game and striking out 10 Vermont batters.
