Jeff Heriot hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth but it wasn't enough as Stony Brook beat Northeastern 5-4 in the first game of Saturday's America East doubleheader at Friedman Diamond.

The Seawolves got runnners on first and second with two outs on a pair of walks and Isidro Fortuna and Cole Cicatelli followed with a pair of RBI-singles. Hedrick then got Kevin Solano to fly out to center field to end the inning. Stony Brook added a run to its lead in the fourth on a solo homer by Nick Theoharis to take a 3-0 advantage. Cicatelli hit an RBI-single in the fifth for another Stony Brook run.

The Huskies got on the board with a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Heriot led off the inning with a bunt-single and Miguel Paquette followed with a double down the right field line that scored Heriot. Tim Bush flied out and Koslowski grounded out, bringing Jeff Maher to the plate with two outs. Pinch hitter Mike Steinberg hit a single to left that scored Paquette. Brad Czarnowski hit a hard line drive to the third baseman to end the inning with a score of 4-2.

Stony Brook extended its lead to 5-2 in the seventh inning on an RBI-double by Kevin Solano. The Huskies had two on with two outs in the fourth, seventh and eighth but couldn't capitalize on the opportunities.
