The Huskies (18-15, 7-4) jumped all over starter Blake Phipps, scoring four times in the top of the first. Paquette picked up his second two-run hit of the day, a double to center, and junior Tim Bush brought in two more with a single through the left side of the infield.
Senior Mike Steinberg singled to lead off the second, knocking Phipps out of the game, and came around to score on senior Brad Czarnowski’s base hit to center.
NU went up 7-0 on Milano’s second home run of the season, a two-run blast to right in the third. Steinberg followed the next inning with a solo shot to left.
Just as senior Jordan Thomson did in the day’s first game, Hedrick struck out five and walked one. He gave up seven hits in improving to 4-3 on the season.
The Retrievers fall to 10-28 overall and 3-8 in America East.
Northeastern and UMBC will meet at 1 p.m. tomorrow to wrap up their three-game series.

Friedman Diamond (Brookline, Mass.)Senior Justin Hedrick threw his first shutout of the season, and junior Miguel Paquette, junior Tim Bush and freshman Dan Milano each drove in two runs as Northeastern completed a doubleheader sweep of UMBC with an 8-0 win Saturday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
