Northeastern 8, Albany 1
NU starter Devin Monds led NU to the victory, shutting down Albany's offense. He went eight innings, allowing one unearned run while striking out 10 batters. He improves to 5-3 this season. Monds departed with no outs and the bases loaded in the ninth and Tim Bush got the final three outs, two on strikeouts, to seal the victory. Albany starter Kyle Thomas took the loss, falling to 4-2. He went six innings, allowing five runs (four earned) with seven strikeouts.
The Huskies got on the board with two outs in the bottom of the third when Miguel Paquette hit a bases-loaded double off the left field wall to give the Huskies a 3-0 lead. Paquette advanced to third when Albany left fielder Craig Farley threw to home. Eric Murray, Brad Czarnowski and Jeff Heriot scored. The Huskies added a run in the bottom of the fifth when Bush hit a grounder to Albany shortstop Joe Lamb, whose throw to first sailed high allowing Bush to get to first and Heriot to score from third.
The Huskies scored three insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh. Heriot singled in Mike Steinberg, Bush hit a sac-fly that scored Heriot, and Paul Koslowski hit a pinch-hit single that scored Miguel Paquette.
Monds cruised with the 10 strikeouts and was backed up by a solid defense. He committed NU's only error. Monds struck out the side in order in the sixth inning. Albany loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the third, but Arman Sidhu made a great stab on a two-out line-drive by Great Dane Derek DeGrazio to keep the game scoreless. Monds got help from his defense on two doubleplays - Heriot doubled off a baserunner from center field to end the second inning and Sidhu started a nice 6-4-3 doubleplay in the fifth.
Northeastern has never missed the America East Tournament since its inception in 1993. The Huskies won the tourney in 1994, '97 and 2003. Huskies win America East regular season title

Friedman Diamond (Brookline, MA)The Huskies won their first ever America East regular season title on Saturday with an 8-1 win over Albany at Friedman Diamond. The Huskies finish the regular season at 28-18 overall and 14-6 in America East while Albany falls to 36-12 and 14-7. Northeastern will be the No. 1 seed in the America East Tournament and will face No. 4 Stony Brook at 3:30 on Thursday. Maine beat UMBC on Saturday, earning the No. 2 seed and Albany is No. 3. Maine and Albany will play at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
