Pellegrine (2-2), one day after junior Adam Ottavino struck out 12 Blue Hens in a 3-0 shutout, gave the Huskies another outstanding pitching performance, keeping Delaware off the scoreboard until the eighth inning.
The Huskies (8-7, 3-2 CAA) built up a 5-0 lead through the first seven innings. In the second inning, sophomore Josh Porter singled home Morizio, who had doubled earlier, to put NU on the board.
In the third, Nutting hit an opposite-field home run off of Delaware starter Todd Ozog (3-2).
In the seventh, the Huskies added three runs when Morizio smacked a two-run homer and Nutting came through again with an RBI single that brought home Porter.
Delaware (10-9, 0-5 CAA) scored single runs in the eighth and ninth, and had the tying run at the plate with just one out, but freshman Trevor Smith, who relieved Pellegrine at the start of the ninth, struck out Bill Merkler and got Dan Richardson to ground out to end the game.
The Huskies will look for the sweep tomorrow at 1 p.m. Sophomore Kris Dabrowiecki is the Huskies' starting pitcher.
