Freshman Trevor Smith (3-1) was the tough-luck loser after allowing three unearned runs in the fourth inning. It began when Smith struck out Adam Pernasilici on a pitch in the dirt. Junior Dan Milano's throw to first sailed over the head of sophomore Josh Porter to allow Pernasilici to reach base.
After a walk, Bryan Towler reached on an error by Brian Nutting. Kevin Grauer followed with a two-run single up the middle to give the Red Foxes (6-13) a 2-0 lead. After another walk, John Mazzello brought Towler home with an RBI single to make it 3-0 Marist.
All the runs in the fourth were unearned. Smith finished with four innings pitched, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out four.
The Huskies (9-8) got on the scoreboard when Nutting homered to left off of Jacob Wiley. They added another run in the eighth when senior Matt Morizio singled home senior Arman Sidhu, cutting the Red Foxes lead to 5-2.
NU loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth and the go-ahead run at the plate, but freshman James Donaldson grounded out to third against Marist closer Robert Ryan to end the inning.
Wiley (1-2) picked up the win with three relief innings, allowing just one run while striking out four.
The Huskies will play at Rhode Island tomorrow at 3 p.m.

Friedman Diamond (Brookline, Mass.)The Northeastern baseball team committed four errors and allowed four unearned runs, dropping a contest to Marist 5-2 Tuesday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
