#16 Old Dominion 3, Northeastern 2 (10 Innings)
Freshman Trevor Smith (4-2) began the bottom of the 10th inning by walking Patrick Nichols, who moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Keith Hahn. Smith then hit Jesse Schoendienst with a pitch, prompting NU to turn to senior closer Matt Morizio. Morizio induced a groundball by Jimmy Miles, but senior Arman Sidhu committed an error to load the bases. Morizio then walked Chris Keenan to force in the tying run before allowing Zahm's game-winner.
The Huskies (14-13, 8-5 CAA) had scored the go-ahead run in the top of the inning when senior Chris Emanuele singled home senior Jeff Maher, who had singled to start the inning. Emanuele also drove in NU's first run when his groundout scored senior Brian Nutting in the eighth inning.
The loss overshadow's Ottavino's performance as he continues to shut down high-powered offenses. Last week, the Brooklyn, N.Y. native tossed a no-hitter against James Madison. This week, he limited the Monarchs (32-5, 15-1 CAA) to one run on five hits over nine innings, walking just two to go with his 13 K's. The 13th strikeout tied him with Jordan Thomson for most career strikeouts in NU history with 241.
This season, Ottavino has 71 strikeouts in just 52 innings.
ODU closer Dana Arrowood (3-1) got the win after pitching the final 2-2/3 innings and allowing one run. He relieved Kevin Gunther, who in 7-1/3 innings, allowed just one run on four hits while striking out five.
The Huskies will try to get back in the win column on Saturday when they play the second game of their series with ODU at 5 p.m.

Bud Metheny Baseball Complex (Norfolk, Va.)Junior Adam Ottavino continued to dominate, striking out 13 Old Dominion batters, but the Northeastern baseball team blew a 2-1 lead in the 10th inning as Mike Zahm hit the game-winning single to lead the Monarchs to a 3-2 win Friday night in Norfolk, Va.
