The win moves the Huskies (15-14, 9-6 CAA) into a third-place tie with UNC Wilmington and Virginia Commonwealth.
The Huskies got off to a great start, scoring two runs off reigning CAA Rookie of the Week Dan Hudson. Emanuele led off the game double and moved to third on a single by senior Brian Nutting. Tamsin then hit a sacrifice fly to score Emanuele and Nutting came home when sophomore Josh Porter doubled, putting NU up 2-0.
The Monarchs (33-6, 16-2 CAA) then scored four unanswered runs to take the lead. Justin Gregula hit an RBI single in the second inning to cut the deficit to 2-1. In the third, Patrick Nichols hit an RBI single and Keith Hahn hit a two-run single to make it 4-2, ODU.
NU then exploded for four runs in the fifth inning when Emanuele, Nutting and Tamsin hit consecutive RBI singles and senior Matt Morizio hit an RBI groundout for a 6-4 Huskies lead.
ODU scored a run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Huskies added an insurance run in the seventh when Emanuele doubled and then scored on Tamsin's second single of the game.
The runs made sophomore Kris Dabrowiecki (4-1) a winner. Dabrowiecki pitched seven innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, walking four and fanning six batters. Morizio closed out the game for his fifth save of the season after pitching the final two innings.
Hudson (6-1) took the loss for ODU, yielding six runs in 4-1/3 innings.
The Huskies next play on Tue., April 18 when they take on Harvard in the first round of the 17th annual Beanpot Tournament at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass. at 4 p.m.
