| 2006 Schedule/Results Beanpot Tournament
The Crimson (15-13-1) will play Boston College, which beat Massachusetts 11-3, in the final next Tuesday at Fenway Park while the Huskies will take on the Minutemen in the consolation game. The Huskies had an opportunity to tie or possibly take the lead over the Crimson in the seventh inning. Having scored three runs already and behind 8-5, the Huskies loaded the bases with two outs and sophomore Mike Lyon at the plate. Lyon roped a Jake Bruton pitch, but it was right at left fielder Chris Mackey for the final out. The Crimson were led by Klimkiewicz, who hit the homer, Lance Salsgiver, who was 2-3 with three runs scored, and Steffan Wilson, who was 3-5 with two RBI. Freshman Mike Tamsin had another solid day for NU (15-15), getting two hits and an RBI. Senior Matt Morizio also had two hits and an RBI. Senior Jeff Maher drove in two runs on his 2-5 day. Smith (4-3) took the loss for the Huskies after allowing five runs, four earned, in 4-1/3 innings, walking three and striking out four. Jason Brown (2-0) earned the win in relief for the Crimson. The Huskies return to CAA action this weekend when they host William & Mary in a three-game series starting Friday at 3 p.m.
