The Huskies (19-16, 12-7 CAA) had trouble against the Tigers all day. They trailed 2-0 until the bottom of the fifth when senior Chris Emanuele hit an RBI single that scored sophomore Mike Lyon and Emanuele came around to score when Towson third baseman A.J. Tinnerella's throw to first was in the dirt, allowing senior Brian Nutting to reach base.
NU took the lead in the seventh when freshman Mike Tamsin singled home Emanuele, extending his hitting to streak to a personal-best 14 games, and making the score 3-2 in favor of the Huskies.
In the eighth inning, Huskies ace Adam Ottavino (4-3) allowed the first two batters, Adam Heffron and Greg Furmanek, to reach base, prompting the team to call upon freshman Trevor Smith. Smith walked Kyle Skellchock to load the bases, but then got Ryan Schreiter to ground to second and Nutting threw home to force Heffron out.
The next batter, Matt Collins, hit a bouncer to third baseman James Donaldson, who threw wildly home to allow Furmanek to score. Smith struck out Demetrios Nomikos, but Smith then walked Hans Falkenhan to force in the go-ahead run, and allowed a double to Brian Conley that scored two more and put Towson (14-27, 4-15 CAA) up 6-3.
NU added a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by senior Arman Sidhu and a run in the ninth on a leadoff homer by Nutting, but Tigers closer Josh Brown nailed the door shut, getting the next three batters out for his fourth save of the year.
Ottavino took the loss after allowing four runs, two earned, on seven hits, walking four and fanning just four.
Steve Johnson (5-1) got the win for Towson after pitching three innings in relief and allowing just two runs.
The Huskies look to rebound tomorrow when they play the Tigers again at 1 p.m. Junior Dave Pellegrine will start for the Huskies and will be opposed by Towson lefty Jon Dupski.

Friedman Diamond (Brookline, Mass.)The Northeastern baseball held a slim 3-2 advantage on Towson heading into the eighth inning, but the Tigers rallied for four unearned runs to take a 6-3 lead and held on to win, 6-5, Friday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
