Northeastern 3, Maine 2 (Final - Five Innings)
The teams waited through a 32-minute rain delay before calling the game.
The Huskies (24-21) scored first in the first inning when senior Matt Morizio hit a home run to right center, his fifth of the season and second in the last three games.
The Black Bears answered back in the second as Bobby Brown hit an RBI single that scored Joel Barrett.
Tied 1-1 in the fourth inning, junior Dan Milano drew a walk and scored when sophomore Josh Porter doubled down the left field line and left fielder Kevin McAvoy mishandled the ball, allowing it to get by him. Senior Arman Sidhu followed with an RBI single to left that brought Porter in.
Maine (31-18-1) scored in the fifth inning when freshman Trevor Smith (6-4) walked in a run, but Curt Smith flied out to right, leaving the bases loaded and ending the threat.
The Huskies came out for the sixth inning, but that was when the sky opened up with heavy rain, leading to the delay and eventual calling of the game.
Sophomore Bobby Carrington started for the Huskies and allowed one run on two hits over three innings. He walked none and struck out four batters. Smith earned the win after pitching two innings. He allowed one run on one hit, walking three and fanning three.
Mitchell Clegg (1-1) took the loss for the Black Bears after yielding three run on three hits in four innings.
