Northeastern drops game two of doubleheader to Indiana Purdue, 9-8
The Huskies came back from a 6-1 deficit in the top of the seventh by putting up seven runs in the frame to take an 8-6 lead, but they couldn't hold on in the bottom half of the inning as the Mastadons scored three runs without recording an out to walk off with the victory.
After being relatively quiet through the first six innings, the Husky offense errupted for seven runs in the seventh, including three home runs. Junior Mike Lyon crushed a home run to left field to lead off the inning. The Huskies then loaded the bases as Gustafson singled, Tony DiCesarie reached on an error by the shortstop and Mike Tamsin singled. Milano was then hit by a pitch to force home a run. After a Donaldson sacrifice fly scored another to make it 6-4, junior captain Josh Porter hit a dramatic, go-ahead, three-run homer to right-center. Two batters later, Brendan Stokes smacked a homer to left to give the Huskies an 8-6 lead.
The Huskies will try to improve to 2-1 on the season as they take on Georgetown tomorrow at 1 p.m. at IMG Academies.
