Huskies beat Georgia State, 7-1, win series
Trevor Smith was brilliant on the mound for the Huskies, improving to 5-2 after throwing eight innings of five-hit, one-run, four-strikeout ball. Ryan Quigley relieved Smith and pitched a scoreless ninth.
Mike Lyon and Dan Milano hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead that they would not relinquish. Lyon's homer was particularly impressive, as he cleared the 435-foot mark in straight-away center field by a good twenty feet.
The Huskies put the game away in the fifth inning as the team scored four more times. Garrett Chin led off the inning with an infield single, and Mike Lyon moved him to third with a double. Dan Milano was then intentionally walked, which Josh Porter made the Panthers pay for, as he knocked in two with a double to right-center. James Donaldson then hit a single up the middle to drive in two more runs and seal the eventual win for the Huskies.
The Huskies are now 19-10 overall on the season and 10-7 in the CAA. The Panthers fall to 20-20 overall and 9-9 in the conference. The Huskies will be back in action on Wednesday at 3 p.m. when they take on Boston College at Fenway Park in the final of the Beanpot Tournament.
