Thomson shuts out Rams
The shutout was the first of Thomson's career and the first by a Husky since Dave Pellegrine shut out Hofstra on May 6, 2006. Thomson improved to 5-5 and now leads the Huskies with two complete games on the season.
The Huskies wasted no time getting on the board as they scored three runs in the first inning. Tony DiCesare, Mike Tamsin, and Dave Fisher all singled in the inning. Captain Josh Porter drove in the first run with a groundout to first base and Fisher drove in the last two runs with a line drive single up the middle.
The Huskies added an insurance run in the sixth. Porter led the inning off with a single and with one out in the inning, Alex Fox walked and captain Tristan Besse recorded his first career hit with a lined shot to right field, loading the bases. Garrett Chin then drove in the insurance run on a sacrifice fly to left field.
The Huskies improve to 24-21 overall and 12-16 in the CAA. The Rams drop to 32-21 overall and 17-11 in the conference.

Friedman Diamond (Brookline, MA)After Dan Milano, Tristan Besse, Garrett Chin and Caleb Ginsberg were honored prior to the game for senior day, Jeff Thomson threw a two-hit shutout to go along with six strikeouts in game one of a doubleheader against Virginia Commonwealth in a seven-inning contest at Friedman Diamond on Saturday, guiding the Huskies to a 4-0 win.
