Huskies lose at UCF, 5-2
McDonald struck out five Golden Knight hitters, allowing three runs and seven hits in six solid innings of work.
Frank Pesanello finally put the Huskies on the board in the top of the ninth inning with a booming two-run homer to left field. It was Pesanello's first career hit as a Husky.
Tony DiCesare had a strong game for the Huskies, going 1-2 with two walks. He was also terrific defensively, making two sliding catches in right field and one outstanding diving catch in the right field corner in which he doubled a runner at second to end the fourth inning and keep the score tied at zero.
Starting pitcher Brett Bordwine had a career night for the Golden Knights, tossing 6.2 innings of shutout ball to go along with 14 strikeouts.
The Huskies now travel to Richmond, Va. to open their conference schedule on Friday with a three-game set at William & Mary.
