Huskies beat Duquesne in extras

In the first extra innings game of the year the Huskies would come away winners on Monday afternoon, defeating the Duquesne Dukes in 11 innings, 10-9. After David Gustafson struck-out the ball got away from the catcher and scoring the winning run was Sam Berg from third base. Berg was driven to third by a Matt Miller single.
The Huskies bats started the game ablaze putting up six runs in the bottom of the first inning capped off with Brendan Stokes two-run homer over the right field fence. His first and the Huskies first home run of the season.
The Huskies continued hot in the second adding another run when Matt Miller came across scoring his second run of the game off a Mike Tamsin single up the middle. The lead after two innings was 7-0.
Frank Pesanello continued the Huskies fireworks in the fourth inning when he launched a bomb over the left field fence. It was Pesanello's first home-run of the season and the Huskies second of the game, both coming off pitcher Johnny Elms.
On the mound the Huskies recieved a strong 4-1/3 from Ryan Quigley where he struck out six batters. In the top of the sixth inning Drew Leenhouts came in from the bullpen. Leenhouts, a 6'3 freshmen from Franklin, Mass., struck out two and did not allow a hit to close the sixth.
In the top of the eigth the Huskies would run into trouble when the Dukes scored three runs to even the score 9-9 after scratching at the lead all game.
As the game went into extra innings, Russ Lloyd would keep the Dukes at bay including getting the third out in the top of the tenth by picking off the runner on first base. Charly Bashara came in for the top of the eleventh and sat the Dukes 1-2-3.
