Huskies beat Duquesne, 3-2

Northeastern extended its winning streak to five games with a 3-2 win over Duquesne on Thursday afternoon at Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven, Fla. Charly Bashara got the win, going seven innings allowing just two unearned runs, and Frank Pesanello went 2-4 with an RBI.
After Duquesne took an early 1-0 lead in the second the Huskies battled back to claim the lead as part of a two run fifth inning. Matt Miller singled driving in Brendan Stokes and David Gustafson smacked a sacrafice fly to deep left to bring in Ryan Maguire and give the Huskies the lead.
After Duquesne got a run back in the sixth to tie the game, Pesanello singled up the middle scoring Matt Miller in the top of the seventh to give the Huskies the one run lead once again.
In the bottom of the seventh the Dukes tried to rally but David Gustafson had a brilliant diving catch to help keep the Dukes at bay.
Dan Zehr came into pitch for the eighth inning after Bashara pitched seven innings, allowing only five hits and no earned runs.
After Zehr pitched a scoreless eighth, Russ Llyod came in for the ninth inning and picked up the save as he dropped the Dukes to keep the Huskies up a run.
Next up is a double-header with Central Michigan tomorrow starting at 9 a.m at Chain of Lakes #1 in Winter Haven, Fla.
