Huskies lose to Eckerd

A four run second inning proved to be to much for the Northeastern Huskies to overcome in their 2009 season opener losing to Eckerd College 6-2 at the Buck O'Neil Baseball Complex in Sarasota, Fla.
Jeff Thomson pitched five innings for the Huskies striking our four while allowing all six runs scored by the Tritons. Offensively the Huskies got RBI from Devin Barry who went 2-2 and Sam Berg.
The Huskies bullpen pitched four innings of no-run ball. Dan Zehr pitched the 6th and 7th giving up only one hit while striking out three. Les Williams pitched a perfect eight and Russ Lloyd pitched a perfect ninth to keep the Huskies in the ball game.
Northeastern drops to 0-1 on the season and will be back in action Saturday for an exhibition game against the Boston Red Sox at 1 p.m. in Fort Myers, Fla.
