Dukes take down Huskies, 11-1

Northeastern was taken down by the James Madison Dukes 11-1 on Saturday afternoon in game two of the three game series. The Dukes scored all 11 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Northeastern got on the board first during the fourth inning when Brendan Stokes hit a double that scored David Gustafson. Gustafson lead the inning off with a double to left center. After Mike Tamsin walked Frank Pesanello hit into a double play that moved Gustafson to third. With Gustafson on third Stokes doubled to left giving the Huskies the lead.
THe Huskies would run into trouble in the bottom of the sixth when the Dukes exploded for 11 runs from ten hits. It would take Northeastern three pitchers to escape the hard hitting Dukes in the bottom of the sixth.
Jeff Thomson pitched five and one-third for the Huskies giving up six runs while allowing ten hits. Thomson struck out three.
Mike Tamsin added a double to bring his career hit total to 211. Tamsin is chasing the all-time Northeastern mark of 217 set in 2006.
Northeastern takes on the Dukes again tomorrow at 1 p.m. Les Williams will pitch for the Huskies.
