Huskies win tight one, 1-0

University Field (Hempstead, N.Y.)

The Northeastern Huskies took game one of a double-header against Hofstra Friday afternoon, winning a pitchers duel 1-0.

Ryan Quigley pitched eight shut out innings for the Huskies striking out seven batters. Quigley was hard to hit all game only allowing seven hits scatterd across the eight innings.

Russ Lloyd and Andrew Leenhouts combined in the ninth the send the Hofsta Pride down without getting the tying the run across. Andrew Leenhouts earned his second save of the year.

The lone Huskies run came early in the ball game. James Donaldson hit his team leading second home run to left field to put the Huskies up. Donladson's home run was all that spoiled Brody Fontaine's excellent outing for the Pride. Donaldson's homer was one of three Husky hits all game.

Northeastern takes Hofstra on in game two following a brief break.
