Huskies coast to victory, 9-3 over W&M

Northeastern came out of Saturday with a pair of CAA wins over William & Mary to improve their conference record to 5-3. Northeastern put up four runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back coasting to a 9-3 victory.

The Huskies wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning getting four runs as all nine batters came to the plate. Jeff Dunlap had a two run single driving home both Frank Pesanello and James Donaldson.

In the bottom of the third the Huskies added to their lead after a James Donaldson stand-up triple. As Donaldson was on third Frank Pesanello hit a grounder that scored Donaldson. After three full innings the Huskies were up 5-1.

Frank Pesanello added his second home run of the season, a shot that landed over the fence just right of the 375 foot marker. Pesanello's homer game the Huskies a 6-1 advantage. While still in the sixth the Huskies grabbed another run putting on the suicide squeeze. Ryan Maguire laid down a text book bunt while Jeff Dunlap took off from third. By the time the William & Mary pitcher had the ball, Dunlap slid safely into home making it a six run lead for Northeastern.

Northeastern would hold the lead through out the rest of the ball game, Dan Zehr pitched strong in relief for Thomson.

Northeastern looks to sweep William & Mary on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Friedman Diamond.
