Huskies beat Dallas Baptist 7-4 to take series

The Huskies won the series against Dallas Baptist taking the rubber match 7-4. The Huskies scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to build the lead and held on to win.

The Huskies started the first inning off right taking an early 1-0 lead. Matt Miller started the inning with and single and would move across the bases via a passed ball and a Frank Compagnone grounder. With Miller on third Mike Tamsin singled through the right side scoring the freshmen Miller.

After DBU tied the game at one in the first the Huskies took the lead for good in the top of the third inning. Ryan Maguire started the inning with a single. Matt Miller would move all the way to third base after an error on pitcher Victor Black, the play also scored Maguire. Frank Compagnone would score Miller from third with a single to center field.

NU blew the game open in the sixth innings scoring four runs. After the Huskies loaded the bases Ryan Maguire was hit by the pitch scoring Frank Pesanello. Matt Miller would force the first baseman into an error scoring David Gustafson. With the bases still loaded Frank Compagnone singled to center scoring both Ryan Maguire and Brendan Stokes.

Trevor Smith moved to 2-1 with the victory pitching eight strong innings allowing four runs to come across while striking out three.

Russ Lloyd came in for the ninth and did not allow a hit to earn the save. The save marks the second save of the season for Lloyd.

The Huskies will now travel back to Boston to play in the Beanpot Championship game on Monday versus UMass. First pitch will be at 5:05 p.m. at Fenway Park, Les Williams will take to the mound for the Huskies.
