NU falls to Georgia State 7-3

It was the rubber game between the Georgia State Panthers and the Northeastern Huskies. In a game critical to to conference standings the Georgia State Panthers would come away winners 7-3.

The Georgia State Panthers started the game win a bang scoring two runs in the first two innings but in the third the Huskies calmed things down. Catcher Frank Pesanello caught Bradley Logan trying to steal third base, for Pesanello it is his 21st runner caught stealing of the season.

The Huskies were not able to get a hit after the first inning until Mike Tamsin smoked a single in the bottom of the sixth. Tamsin moved to second off a sacrifice by James Donaldson. With Tamsin on second Frank Pesanello came to bat and slugged a 400+ shot clearing the left field bullpen, the 34th home run of Pesanello's career.

Georgia State's pitching staff held the Huskies to a limited amount of hits, through the first seven innings the Huskies only managed to get four hits. In the eighth however the Huskies were able to get to Ryan Moore and send him to the showers after seven and a third.

Even after chasing Ryan Moore the Huskies still struggled to get anything going offensively as Aidan Francis picked up where Moore left off keeping the Huskies off the scoreboard.

In the bottom of the ninth the Huskies would try to rally and it started off with a bang. Frank Pesanello hit his second home run of the game to left to make it a 7-3 ball game. The Huskies would be able to get two runners on base but that is when the rally would end as Aidan Francis was able to strike out Tucker Roeder, Devin Barry, and Matt Miller to end the ball game.

The Huskies won't waste much time before getting back in action. NU will face Rhode Island at 3 p.m. on Monday at 3 p.m. at Friedman Diamond.
