NU drops game two to Mason

In game one of Saturday's pair of games the Huskies fell to the George Mason Patriots 12-5 in seven innings. The Huskies received two home runs by David Gustafson and James Donaldson.

The Huskies got on the board in the second inning when David Gustafson hit his second home run in as many days. Once again Gustafson's homer went to left field.

George Mason erupted for five runs in the bottom of the third inning off Huskies starter Les Williams chasing Williams from the game at the end of the inning. Williams struck out five in three innings and allowed four hits.

In the top of the fourth the Huskies would cut the lead to two runs when Mike Tamsin and Frank Pesanello would come across to score. Tamsin scored on a wild pitch and Pesanello was brought home by a Brendan Stokes double.

GMU moved their lead back to three runs in the bottom of the fifth but James Donaldson brought the Huskies back within a run with a home run to left field. The Donaldson homer was the Huskies second bomb of the game. The Huskies made it a one run ball game when Ryan Maguire brought David Gustafson home with a single. The end of six full innings it was 6-5.

Mason would explode for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and with only one inning the play the Huskies would no be able to overcome the deficit.

The Huskies will take a break and play George Mason again in the final game of the series at 2 p.m.
