Huskies fall to George Mason 8-3 in game three

Northeastern tried to avoid the sweep against the George Mason Patriots Saturday afternoon as part of a double header. The Huskies received home runs from Brendan Stokes and Ryan Maguire but it proved to not be enough as the Huskies fell 8-3 to the Patriots.

Northeastern fell in an early 3-0 hole after the first two innings before Brendan Stokes got the Huskies in the game with a solo shot to right in the top of the third.

George Mason responded in the bottom half of the third inning putting up three runs and chasing Jeff Thomson out of the ball game. Trevor Smith would enter the ball game in the third and proceed to pitch excellent. Smith went the next five and two-thirds allowing four hits, two runs while striking out six.

Northeastern would add a run in the seventh inning as Ryan Maguire extended his hitting streak with a solo home run to left center. With the hit Maguire extended his team leading hitting streak to nine games.

George Mason would add an additional two runs in the seventh to make it an 8-3 ball game, what the final score would remain to allow the Patriots to complete the sweep the Huskies.

Northeastern drops to 8-10 in the CAA and hosts Delaware next weekend. Before that series is played the Huskies will play UMass on Wednesday at Friedman Diamond. First pitch of the Wednesday game is 3 p.m.
