Huskies rally to beat Towson 13-11

After falling into an early 6-0 the Huskies battled back and took a lead in the seventh inning as part of a five run inning. Mike Tamsin led the Huskies with four RBI while going 4-6. JT Ross pitched six and two thirds for the Huskies and Andrew Leenhouts picked up the save, his third of the season.
The Huskies move to 12-11 in the CAA and place themselves in a decent playoff position. A win tomorrow and the Huskies are in and even with a loss tomorrow the Huskies may be able to get in, but a win and the Huskies playoff situation is set.
The Huskies found themselves in an early 6-0 whole as Tigers started the game with a bang. Ryan Quigley struggled in his outing only recording one out before JT Ross was brought in for relief.
The Huskies started their comeback in the third inning. Frank Compagnone singled up the middle and advanced to second after a Mike Tamsin grounder. With Compagnone on second James Donaldson doubled down the right field line scoring the Huskies left fielder.
Towson added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning making it a 7-1 lead. In the fifth the Huskies truly began to rally scoring four runs. Ryan Maguire led the inning off with a home run off a 1-1 pitch. One batter later Frank Compagnone hit another single to land on first. Mike Tamsin slammed a homer to left center to score both him and Compagnone, the second Huskies home run of the inning. James Donaldson would score the fourth run of the frame off a Jeff Dunlap sacrifice fly.
Towson increased their lead 8-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning as the hard hitting Tigers continued to pound the ball at the small Towson park.
Northeastern dropped the lead to two runs in the sixth inning as Mike Tamsin came threw in the clutch with a single to right field scoring Ryan Maguire from third.
The Huskies took their first lead of the ball game in the seventh inning. Frank Pesanello led things off with a 1-2 homer deep over the left field fence. After Pesanello's homer the Huskies began to manufacture runs and Brendan Stokes, David Gustafson, Ryan Maguire, Matt Miller, Frank Compagnone, and Mike Tamsin all combined for six straight singles off the Towson pitching staff scoring four runs. At the end of six and a half the Huskies had their first lead of the ball game at 11-8.
After Towson scored a run in the seventh but the Huskies responded in the eighth as Jeff Dunlap scored off Matt Miller's bases loaded grounder to second. Headed into the bottom of the eighth inning the game stood 12-9.
JT Ross would leave the ball game after pitching six and a third in relief. Ross allowed only three runs and struck out six before freshmen Andrew Leenhouts came into the ball game.
Towson scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to put the score at 12-11 headed into the ninth inning.
After a fielding error allowed Mike Tamsin to reach James Donaldson was walked to put two runners aboard. Frank Pesanello drove a single to left scoring Tamsin and moving Donaldson to second. The Huskies would have a 13-11 lead going into the bottom of the ninth inning.
Andrew Leenhouts was on fire in the ninth allowing the Tigers only one hit. With two away Leenhouts forced CAA stud Gary Helmick to ground to short to end the ball game with a Huskies 13-11 victory.
Northeastern and Towson return to the field for the rubber match at 1 p.m.
