Huskies fall to Red Sox

The Northeastern Huskies went down in defeat to the Boston Red Sox Saturday afternoon 14-0 at the City of Palms Park in Fort Myers, Fla. The Red Sox had four pitchers combine to hold the Huskies to only two hits in the game while the Sox slugged 10 hits on their way to 14 runs.
The top of the first started strong for Northeastern when David Gustafson slugged a triple off of Kris Johnson. Missing a home run by only feet, Gustafson hustled around the bases as Jacoby Ellsbury tracked the ball down at the wall trying to get the ball to the infield but it was too late as Gustafson slid safely into third.
In the bottom of the second inning Ryan Quigley entered the game for the Huskies. After Pedroia reached on an error, Quigley struck out Youkilis looking and a batter later struck Jed Lowrie out looking. Quigley then forced Chavez to ground out to end the inning, giving the Sox no hits during the second.
Northeastern would get another hit in the seventh and final inning when James Donaldson slugged the ball right up the middle as he reached safely to first.
Tyler Thorton and Jeff Thomson also pitched scoreless innings for the Huskies. Brandon McNelis went an inning and a third giving up three hits and only two runs. Russ Lloyd, Aaron Greenblatt and JT Ross also pitched for the Huskies.
The Huskies had 23 players step onto the field at City of Palms Park.
The Huskies travel to Winter Haven, Fla. to start a weeklong strech where they will play ten games in six days start on Sunday with a double-header against Northwestern starting at 9:30 a.m.
