2010 Baseball Preview
Head coach Neil McPhee and the rest of the Huskies baseball team are ready to get the ball rolling on the 2010 season. The Huskies are looking to get back to the CAA Tournament for the second year in a row after a fourth-place finish last year. The team, led by tri-captains Dan Zehr, David Gustafson and Frank Compagnone, welcomes 12 talented newcomers to a squad already stocked with athleticism and versatility. The season starts Feb. 26th when they take on Davenport in Winter Haven, Fla. The first game at Friedman Diamond, the home of the Huskies, is on March 19 against Bryant.

Huskies release 2010 schedule
Head Coach Neil McPhee and the Northeastern baseball team have released their 2010 schedule. The slate includes 24 CAA games and 25 non-conference games and is highlighted by the team's annual 10-day trip to Florida and a three-game turn in Philadelphia. While in Florida, the Huskies will continue their tradition of playing an exhibition game against the Boston Red Sox at their spring training facility in Ft. Myers, Fla. This will be the seventh time that the Sox host the Huskies at City of Palm Park.

Husky Summer Camp 2010 application now available
Head coach Neil McPhee has announced dates for the 22nd annual Northeastern Baseball Summer Camp for little league players age 6-12 (co-ed). The first week will be July 5-9 and the second week will be July 12-16 at NU's Friedman Diamond in Brookline. The coaching staff is made up of the Northeastern baseball staff, high school coaches and college players. The cost is $375 for one week and $700 for both weeks. Pena leads AL in home runs
Former Northeastern standout Carlos Pena,who plays for the Tampa Bay Rays, finished the 2009 Major League Baseball season as the American League's co-leader in home runs with 39. He finished tied with New York's Mark Teixeira. Pena, who played at NU from 1997-98, batted .227 with 39 home runs and 100 RBI despite missing the last month of the season with an injury.

Leenhouts honored by Baseball America
Huskies sophomore pitcher Andrew Leenhouts was named the sixth-best prospect coming out of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League by Baseball America. Leenhouts, a native of Franklin, Mass., pitched for the Peekskill Robins of the ACBL this summer and posted a 4-1 record with a 4.05 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 33-1/3 innings. He finished 15th in the league in ERA and third in the league in opponent batting average.
