Huskies Winter Prospect Camp Jan. 2010
The Huskies coaching staff is now accepting applications for the 2010 Prospect Camp, held Jan. 16 & 17 and Jan 23 & 24. This will be the camp's third season, and it has drawn sellout numbers of participants, as well as coaches from Division I, II and III from New England and other parts of the Northeast. The camp, which is open to young adults grades 8-11 and undecided seniors, is held in the newly turfed Cabot Cage, which allows players to showcase almost every skill as they would on a field in summer camp. Huskies hitting and catching camp Nov. 27-28
Assistant coaches Pat Mason and Mike Glavine will be hosting a hitting and catching camp for high school students Nov. 27-28 at the Cabot Cage. The camp is an opportunity for prospective players to receive instruction on all the fundamentals of hitting and catching. The cost is $100 for the hitting session only, $75 for the catching session only and $150 for both sessions.

Pena leads AL in home runs
Former Northeastern standout Carlos Pena,who plays for the Tampa Bay Rays, finished the 2009 Major League Baseball season as the American League's co-leader in home runs with 39. He finished tied with New York's Mark Teixeira. Pena, who played at NU from 1997-98, batted .227 with 39 home runs and 100 RBI despite missing the last month of the season with an injury.

Leenhouts honored by Baseball America
Huskies sophomore pitcher Andrew Leenhouts was named the sixth-best prospect coming out of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League by Baseball America. Leenhouts, a native of Franklin, Mass., pitched for the Peekskill Robins of the ACBL this summer and posted a 4-1 record with a 4.05 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 33-1/3 innings. He finished 15th in the league in ERA and third in the league in opponent batting average.
