Head coach Neil McPhee along with assistant coaches Pat Mason and Mike Glavine will operate the Husky Babe Ruth baseball camp at Parsons Field/Friedman Diamond from July 20-23. The camp is for athletes ages 13-16.

This is the third year of the camp and is a progression from the very successful Husky little league age camps. Both Mason and Glavine were superb players at Northeastern in the 1990s and played on championship teams during that time. Mason was the catcher and captain of the 1996 and 1997 teams and played in the NCAA Tournament in 1994 and 1997. Glavine played first base and captained the 1995 team and also played on the 1994 NCAA Tournament team. Glavine, who is the brother of 10-time All-Star Tom Glavine of the New York Mets, was recently inducted into the Northeastern University Hall of Fame.

As with Northeastern's other camps and clinics, this clinic will be organized and structured to provide superb instruction in all the fundamentals of the game of baseball. We are committed to helping players develop into the best they can be at each level – youth, high school and college. At the same time, players will receive a four-day experience of college-level coaching and instruction at the Div. I level, as well as advice on the college search process they will be preparing in their future.

In January of 2008, after 21 years of a very successful Husky Baseball Clinic for youth and high school players, the Northeastern baseball team, led by head coach Neil McPhee, launched the first Husky Prospect Camp, by changing the format of the camp from a teaching clinic to a showcase camp. It was an immediate success with 200+ players and 20+ coaches and programs represented from the Northeast.

The reason behind this move was motivated by the escalating timeline of the scouting and recruiting system in college baseball across the country. With players verbally committing earlier every year, coaches at all levels must scout and recruit players in their sophomore and freshmen years in order to stay up to date with their scouting / recruiting lists. Therefore, evaluating underclass players in January is an enormous benefit to both underclass players and coaches. It provides the Huskies with a head start to the scouting season, which is especially crucial in the north. The Huskies also encourage undecided seniors to showcase their talents one last time before final decisions and acceptances are made in the spring.

Besides just freshmen, sophomores, juniors and undecided seniors, who stand to benefit from the camp, the Huskies invite 8th grade players as well, because not only is the camp a pre-showcase for them, the Huskies have maintained much of the exceptional "Spring Training" qualities that made the Winter Clinic so successful For example: 50-75 swings at pitched balls in NU's 14 batting stations; pitch repetitions on 12 mounds and contact with coaches as players move station to station.

Please plan to apply NOW in order to participate in a camp that the Huskies are certain players will enjoy and gain from. The Husky camps have been successful over the years because of the "word of mouth" from player to player, parent to parent; that NU provides players what they want and need to become better players.

The following head and assistant coaches attended and participated in the 2008 Husky Prospect Camp. This year the Huskies will expand the number of coaches attending, and head coaches and their assistants will split coverage, assuring their programs are represented both weekends.

Northeastern baseball assistant coaches Pat Mason and Mike Glavine will operate the Husky hitting clinic for high school students Nov. 28-29 at the cage in the Cabot Gymnasium.

As with Northeastern's other camps and clinics, this clinic will be organized and structured to provide superb instruction in all the fundamentals hitting. The Huskies
are committed to helping players develop into the best they can be at each level. At the same time, players will receive a two-day experience of college-level coaching and
instruction at the Div. I level as well as being educated on the college search process. NU's goal is to provide every player the opportunity to better themselves as hitters while
learning what it takes to succeed at the next level. The camp WILL BE LIMITED to only 50 participants, this will ensure the maximum # of swings for each participant.

Head coach Neil McPhee will supervise the clinic and the camp directors will be assistant coaches Patrick Mason, Mike Glavine. Both Mason and Glavine were superb
players at Northeastern in the mid-1990s and played on championship teams during that time. Mason was the catcher and captain of the 1996 and 1997 teams and played in the NCAA Regionals in 1994 and 1997. Glavine played 1st Base and captained the 1995 team and played on the 1994 regional team. Glavine, who is the brother of future Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Glavine of the Atlanta Braves, was recently inducted into the Northeastern University Hall of Fame. The rest of the staff will be made up of current Husky players.
