| 2000 Schedule/Results Drexel 2, Northeastern 1 (OT)
Sophomore forward Kristina Backenstose converted a rebound following a penalty corner as Drexel forged a 2-1 overtime victory over 11th-ranked Northeastern Sunday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Backenstose, who was hit in the face with a deflected pass late in the second period, returned to action in time to register her eighth goal of the season. The goal came moments after Northeastern failed to capitalize on three consecutive penalty-corner opportunities. Sophomore defender Fior D’Alize Arrindell put the Huskies on the board first, finishing off a successful corner play. The Dragons responded early in the second period when senior midfielder Lisa Hinck netted her first career goal off a nifty behind-the-back flip-feed from junior forward Pamie Zukowski. Senior Heather Haigh played a strong game in goal for Drexel, turning back nine shots, while NU’s Kathleen Madaus had four saves. The win was Drexel’s first-ever against Northeastern. The Huskies now lead the series 9-1-1. It was NU’s fourth straight loss of the season.
