PRINCETON, NJ - The Northeastern field hockey team was defeated 4-1 by Princeton in first round action of the 2001 NCAA Field Hockey Championship at Class of 1952 Stadium on the campus of Princeton University. Princeton's Ashley Sennett scored an unassisted goal, the Tigers' first of the game, at 8:22 to begin the scoring. The Huskies tied the game up with just 8.2 seconds remaining in the first half, however, on a Krisanne Duchemin goal. Despite not playing since Oct. 12 because of an injury, Duchemin took teammate Liane Dixon's pass and sent it past Princeton goalie Kelly Baril. Northeastern escaped the first half with a 1-1 tie despite being outshot 14-3. In second-half play, Natalie Martirosian blasted a shot by NU's goalie Emily Roy to give Princeton a 2-1 lead. The Tigers then increased their lead to two when Rachael Becker's shot was originally stopped by Roy, but the ball managed to trickle between her legs and into the goal. Princeton's third goal of the second half and fourth of the game came at the 5:39 mark when Sennett scored her second of the game off an assist from Claire Miller. Princeton advances to face Old Dominion on Sunday at 2 p.m., also at Class of 1952 Stadium. Northeastern ends the season with a 16-7 record. SCORING
