The Northeastern University football team opened the 2009 season with a 54-0 loss at ACC opponent Boston College Saturday at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Huskies fall to 0-5 all-time against the Eagles.
Boston College scored on its first play from scrimmage, a 48-yard touchdown run by Montel Harris. The Eagles went on to score five touchdowns in the first half and didn't allow the Huskies into their own territory.
Northeastern totaled 131 yards of offense on the day, led by junior quarterback Alex Dulski, who saw his first collegiate action in the game. He was 4-for-6 for 21 yards passing and had 19 rushing yards on five attempts. He was taken out of the game after an injury and replaced by redshirt freshman Matt Carroll. In his first collegiate game, Carroll was 4-for-8 for 28 yards passing and had 17 yards on the ground.
On defense, senior linebacker Phil Higgins led Northeastern with eight tackles, including two behind the line for a loss. Junior end David Akinniyi also had two tackles for a loss.
Senior punter Ron Conway tied a Northeastern record with 12 punts in the game, including a 50-yarder and two that pinned inside the BC 20.
Boston College was led by Harris, who had 113 yards rushing and two touchdowns. The Eagles played four different quarterbacks and were led by freshman David Shinskie, who had 110 yards passing and a TD pass to Billy Flutie.
Northeastern will look to rebound next Saturday as the Huskies host Maine in their home opener at Parsons Field at 1 p.m.
