If the Atlantic 10 had a Comeback Player of the Year honor, Gale would have won with ease last season. He burst onto the college scene with an NU-high 668 yards in 1999, but then faced a myriad of obstacles. He missed four games due to a pair of injuries and never got rolling as a sophomore. Then in 2001 he took the year off for personal reasons and eventually underwent knee surgery to correct a persistent injury. He wasn’t involved in much last year until the Richmond game when he busted out for 155 yards, starting a season-ending surge in which he tied the NU record with five straight 100-yard games en route to first team All-A10 honors. Gale is a preseason All-Conference pick this year and will be the workhorse runner for the Huskies once again. 2002: Played in all 13 games...named first team All-A10, a New England All-Star and Offensive Team MVP...led the team in scoring with 16 total TDs (14 rushing, two receiving) to break the NU mark of 15 previously set by Dave Klemic in 1998...total of 14 rushing TDs tied L.J.
