Higgins showed good playmaking abilities after taking over as a starting inside linebacker late last season. He is an intelligent player and very steady. He will also figure prominently on special teams.
2007: Appeared in all 11 games on the season, making three starts at inside linebacker...also played on special teams...made 40 tackles on the season...made a career-high 10 tackles vs. Hofstra (Nov. 10)...bested that mark with 11 tackles at Rhode Island (Nov. 17).
2006: Played all 11 games on the season, primarily on special teams, making seven tackes (three solo)...made five total tackles (two solo) at James Madison (Sept. 23).
High School: Played football at Gwynn Park High School in Brandywine, Md. …led Gwynn Park to the Maryland 3A state championship in 2005…was named to All-State second team, All-Metro second team, Prince George’s 3A All-League, All-Sentinel first team, All-Gazette second team and All-Examiner second team his senior year…was an All-County and All-League selection his junior year in 2004, leading the defense as the Yellow Jackets went 11-1…won the team Iron Man Award his junior year…also lettered in swimming in 2003.
