Senior tight end Brian Mandeville has accepted an invitation to play in the 84th annual East-West Shrine Game on Saturday, Jan. 17 in Houston, Texas. Mandeville will play for the East team under former NFL and college head coach Bobby Ross. A two-time All-CAA Football and All-New England selection from Walpole, Mass., Mandeville finished his Northeastern career with 63 receptions for 863 yards and seven touchdowns. The game will air on ESPN2 on Jan. 17 at 4 p.m.

Higgins, Mandeville named All-New England
Senior tight end Brian Mandeville and junior linebacker Phil Higgins were named to the All-New England team, the New England Football Writers announced on Wednesday. The two Huskies will be honored at the annual New England Football Writers Banquet in Wilmington, Mass., on Dec. 11. For Mandeville, this is his second consecutive season earning All-New England honors. This season, he caught 24 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns. Higgins, a first-time All-New England honoree, led CAA Football in tackles with 122, the fifth-most tackles made in NU single-season history.

Five Huskies named All-CAA Football
Five Huskies were honored on Monday with All-CAA Football selections. Senior captain Brian Mandeville was named to the All-CAA Football second team, and Alex Broomfield, Phil Higgins, Kevin Newhall and Nate Thellen were all named to the All-CAA Football third team. For Mandeville and Newhall, they are now two-time All-Conference selections while Broomfield, Higgins and Thellen were all honored for the first time.

Huskies fall to Rhody
The Huskies fell to Rhode Island 29-14 Saturday on Senior Day at Parsons Field. In a pregame ceremony, the Huskies honored their 14 departing seniors. John Griffin led the Huskies with 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns, one of which was an 11-yard TD catch. Phil Higgins made 15 tackles, finishing the year with 122, fifth-best in NU single-season history. He also finishes the regular season as CAA Football's leading tackler. Northeastern ends the year with a 2-10 record, 1-7 in CAA Football.

Orio honored by Brooks-Irvine Club
Senior quarterback Anthony Orio has been named the Brooks-Irvine Memorial Club South Jersey FCS Player of the Year, the organization announced this week. Orio, a native of Voorhees, N.J., played his high school football at Eastern Regional. This season, Orio became just the fifth NU quarterback to reach 2,000 passing yards in a single season. For his career, he ranks third at Northeastern in passing yards, first in completion percentage and sixth in passing touchdowns.

Huskies lose at Hofstra
The Huskies lost to Hofstra 42-14 Saturday at a rainy and Windy Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y. Alex Broomfield and John Sperrazza scored touchdowns for the Huskies, and Phil Higgins made 16 tackles, surpassing the 100-tackle mark for the season.
