Dave Klemic is one of the Atlantic 10’s true game-breaking players. With the ability to run a 4.3 40, the 6’0 receiver can score any time he touches the football, which he has done again and again in his first three seasons. He has obliterated NU’s previous touchdown marks, records that had stood for decades. He has 33 career TDs, far ahead of the old mark of 24 held by Bob Cappadona (1963-65). With a season to go, Klemic also already holds the NU career record for receiving yards, which was set by Husky legend Dan Ross. Klemic needs just two more catches to break the Ross standard for career receptions. As a senior, Klemic will likely become NU’s all-time leading scorer as he attempts to solidify his reputation as the greatest wide receiver in school history. 1999: Named third team All-A10 after the year...led NU receivers in receptions (58), yards (766) and TDs (seven)...became NU’s all-time leader in receiving yards with a 78-yard day at Villanova, passing Ross mark of 2343...finished season with 152 career catches, one shy of Ross career record...had the first rushing TD of his career on 49-yard end-around in season opener versus AIC...caught seven balls for 125 yards, including a 54-yard TD on NU’s first possession, at James Madison...matched career high with nine catches for 86 yards against William & Mary...caught 39-yard TD pass off flea-flicker on NU’s first play from scrimmage for 7-0 lead over Boston College 24 seconds into the game...combined with Michael Mack for 113 receptions, most ever in a season by NU teammates...had eight grabs for 118 yards and a 49-yard TD versus UNH; tied Ross record with 11th career 100-yard receiving game...scored two TDs versus Delaware, becoming just the second Husky ever to score 200 points in a career; ended the year with 208, 16 shy of the NU record of Brandon Hanes (1994-97)...reached 100 career catches in just 24 games, shattering the NU record of 32 games held by Ross...had outstanding track year, winning Most Outstanding Performer honors at both the indoor and outdoor America East Championships; won the 55 dash and the long jump indoors and long jump with a meet record leap of 24’9.75 outdoors. 1998: Named All-New England, second team All-A10 and second team All-ECAC...had six 100-yard games, tying NU mark of Ross set in 1978...led team in receptions with 65 for NU-record 1175 yards...also led team in kick returns with 13 for 269 yards...had record 15 touchdowns, including three three-TD games; averaged 43.9 yards per TD...notched eight receptions for a career-high 173 yards and three touchdowns in victory over Rhode Island; also returned two kickoffs for 91 yards for career-high total of 264 all-purpose yards, second-best all-time at NU...earned Gold Helmet for URI game...reached 1000 career receiving yards in career game 15, six games sooner than any previous Husky...total of 20 points against Villanova was fourth-best in school history, most ever in one quarter and one half...among national leaders in receiving yards (sixth), scoring (18th) and receptions (24th)...also a track standout; earned America East Most Outstanding Performer honors at 1999 outdoor title meet, winning the 200 and long jump. 1997: NU’s Offensive Rookie of the Year...had 10 TD catches, second most in the league...named A10 Rookie of the Week after catching six passes for 130 yards and two TDs versus Villanova...scored on a 41-yard pass play as time expired to give NU a 23-17 victory over Maine...had strong indoor track season, winning the America East long jump title and taking second in the 200...outdoors, won the America East long jump title and was second in New England. 1996: Redshirt season. High School: Played football and track at Mainland High... named honorable mention South Jersey All-Star in football as a senior for state champs...set season marks for catches (31), yards (584) and TDs (11)...also set track marks for long jump (23’11) and 400 hurdles (54.99). Personal: Born June 16, 1978...majors in History...Class of 2001.
