Mitchell illustrated his explosiveness as a punt and kick returner during the 2001 season and subsequently was moved from his spot as a backup at strong safety to a starting receiver. An injury cut short his 2002 season, but he was back at 100 percent last year, and it showed in his production as he teamed with Cory Parks to give the Huskies the second-best receiving tandem in the Atlantic 10 in terms of combined receiving yards.
