Northeastern University head football coach Rocky Hager has announced that he has signed an 11th recruit for his class of 2008. Joining Northeastern next season will be defensive back Emmanuel Matthews (Pittsburgh, PA/Pittsburgh Central Catholic).

Matthews, who checks in at 6'0 and 175 pounds, played three seasons of varsity football at Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School and was a two-time all-conference selection as a wide receiver. His team was state champions during his senior, finishing with a perfect 16-0 record. His team was also ranked fourth in the nation by MaxPreps.

Matthews also lettered in track as a sprinter, captaining his team for two seasons.

The addition of Matthews brings the total number of recruits to 11, four of which are defensive backs. The Huskies begin spring practice on March 11, hold their spring game on April 5 and begin the 2008 campaign at Ball State on August 28.
