Riley finishes his career as NU's sixth all-time leading rusher with 2,102 rushing yards. He is reminiscent of the darting, diminutive Brian Vaughan, who from 1993-96 ran his way to 2481 yards and set the NU career rushing record, which stood until L.J. McKanas broke it in the 2001 season. Riley got a good start toward that record when he ran for 940 yards as a redshirt freshman, the most ever by an NU rookie.
2005: Finished his senior season as NU's second leading rusher with 282 yards rushing on 60 carries and 94 receiving yards on 15 catches...rushed for 48 yards in season opener versus Georgia Southern...picked up 33 yards on 12 carries and returned three kickoffs for 63 yards versus Villanova...recorded 64 yards on the ground and 25 receiving yards, including a 20-yard touchdown pass from Sperrazza versus Towson...registered 64 yards on three kick returns against Massachusetts on Oct. 8...rushed for a season-high 99 yards at Northwestern State.
2004: Appeared in seven games at running back, starting three...gained 312 yards on 61 carries...led NU running backs in yards per carry (5.1)...caught seven balls for 73 yards on the season...ran 12 times for 49 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown scamper, and added three catches for 31 yards against Navy...gained 118 yards on 18 caries in 27-3 win over Towson...the effort was his sixth career 100 yard performance.
2003: Played in nine games, starting one...finished third on the team in carries (74) and rushing yards (469)...among players with at least 50 carries, was second on NU in yards per rush (6.3)...started the season with three straight 100-yard games, carrying six times for 100 yards against Stonehill, 16 times for 108 yards versus Albany and 20 times for a season-high 132 yards and a touchdown in NU’s 42-39 win over Rhode Island...had NU’s second-longest run of the season, a 59-yard scoring dash in the first quarter that put his team up 14-0 over No. 4 Massachusetts...had a seven-yard TD scamper midway through the third quarter against William & Mary that pushed the lead to 24-14, giving NU some breathing room; caught a 30-yard pass on the previous play.
2002: Started all 13 games...led NU with 940 rushing yards and 173 carries...rushed for over 100 yards twice...also returned punts and kicks...led the team with 86 yards on 11 carries in 31-0 win over Div. IA Ohio, including a 41-yard scamper on NU’s second play of a scoring drive to start the second half...carried the ball 14 times for 67 yards and an 18-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to put the Huskies up 7-0 against UMass...hit QB Shawn Brady for a 24-yard TD pass against Hofstra...ran for 93 yards against Hofstra...had 124 yards on 28 carries at Harvard...carried 16 times for 144 yards and a TD at New Hampshire; finished the 49-point outburst with a 16-yard scoring run...had a 48-yard TD run against James Madison.
2001: Appeared in the first two games as a backup tailback...first two collegiate carries came in third quarter of the opener at Hofstra; also caught a 12-yard pass...rushed for minus two yards on three carries in first half at Villanova, but had 15 for 97 yards in the second half replacing an injured L.J. McKanas...had a 20-yard TD run at Villanova to complete the NU scoring...injured left hamstring in practice Sept. 26 and missed the rest of the year...qualified for medical redshirt.
High School: A standout running back at DeMatha Catholic High...rushed for over 2000 yards and 25 TDs as a junior, earning Prince Georges Journal Player of the Year honors...missed two games but still tallied nearly 1700 rushing yards and had 15 TDs as a senior...helped lead team to Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title in 2000 with 11-1 record...team was 33-2-1 in his last three years...named first team All-Conference and All-County twice...won 2000 Offensive Team MVP honors, while current NU teammate Rold Louis won Defensive MVP honors.
