Thompson split time with Kevin Lawlor as the team’s primary tight end the last two seasons. He suffered a torn ACL in spring practice and will sit out the upcoming season. 2004: Medical Redshirt. 2003: Played in all 12 games...had three receptions for 39 yards...tied a career high with two catches, against Stonehill...hauled in a nine-yard reception in NU’s first scoring drive in its 41-24 win over James Madison...also made three tackles, all on punt coverage...member of the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team. 2002: Played all 13 games...had three catches for 96 yards and a touchdown...23-yard reception on season-opening drive against Lock Haven set up NU’s first touchdown of 2002...recorded two catches for a career-high 73 yards and a score against UMass; scored on an 8-yard pass from quarterback Shawn Brady to give NU a commanding 42-17 lead late in the fourth quarter against the Minutemen and also hauled in a 65-yard reception (longest by a Husky in 2002) that helped set up a Quintin Mitchell touchdown...one of only three Huskies to have a GPA of at least 3.5 during the fall quarter...made the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team. Before NU: Walked on at Louisiana Tech in 2001 season, but did not play (redshirt season)...lettered two times in football and three times in track at Cypress Falls High...helped lead team to district championship as a senior...a finalist for the Houston Touchdown Club Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
