SUMMARY:
Barea is regarded by many Northeastern
followers as the most exciting player
ever to wear a Husky uniform. A first-class
point guard, he has proven himself as
a national leader in both scoring and
assists, finishing the 2004-05 season
as the first player since 1997-98 to
rank in the Top 10 in both categories.
He can shoot from anywhere on the floor,
penetrate and always find the open man.
He has garnered numerous awards from
the conference and national levels,
as well as the international level of
play, as he has been a standout for
the Puerto Rican National Team for the
past four years. Barea ranks among the
all-time leaders in just about every
offensive category in Northeastern history.

High School:
Played one year each of basketball and
volleyball at Miami Christian High...helped
lead the Victors to a 38-2 mark, setting
a Florida state record for wins, and
the 1A Florida state championship in
2002...averaged 20 points, eight rebounds,
six assists and three steals, while
being named Team MVP, All-Dade County
and All-State as a senior.
