Huskies selected to CBI
March 15, 2009
Boston, Mass.

The Northeastern men’s basketball team has accepted an invitation to play in the second annual College Basketball Invitational and will face Wyoming Tuesday night at Arena-Auditorium in Laramie, Wyo.

The game will be televised on HDNet at 9 p.m. The winner will face the winner of Nevada vs. UTEP on Monday, March 23.

This is Northeastern’s first postseason appearance since a trip to the NIT in 2005, where the Huskies lost to Memphis.

Northeastern is 18-12 this season and finished in third place in the CAA with a 12-6 mark. The Huskies were seeded third in the CAA Tournament but were upset by No. 11 seed Towson in the quarterfinals. Despite the loss, the Huskies have big non-conference wins over Providence and Indiana. They also were the only CAA team to hold wins over all 11 other CAA teams. The Huskies have five wins this season against teams that have now qualified for postseason play.

The Huskies are led by third-year head coach Bill Coen. Leading the Huskies are first-team All-CAA selection Matt Janning, third-team All-CAA pick Manny Adako and CAA All-Defensive team selection Chaisson Allen.
