Huskies to play St. Mary's in Diamond Head Classic

The inaugural Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic bracket has been announced, and the Huskies will take on St. Mary's in a nationally televised event on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 3 p.m., Eastern. The game will broadcast live from the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu on ESPNU.

Northeastern is guaranteed at least two games on national television. Its potential second-round opponents are Western Michigan and USC, and the other four schools in the tournament are SMU, UNLV, Charleston and host Hawaii. The two teams that remain undefeated through the first two rounds will meet for the championship on Friday, Dec. 25, at 9:30 p.m., Eastern on ESPN2.

In total, 10 of the 12 games scheduled for the tournament will broadcast on either ESPNU or ESPN2.

Last season, St. Mary's, which is located in Moraga, Calif., won a school-record 28 games and reached the quarterfinals of the NIT, beating Washington State and Davidson before losing to San Diego State. The Gaels will return six lettermen and three redshirt freshmen from last season's team that finished second in the West Coast Conference and reached the WCC Tournament championship game.
