The Northeastern men's basketball team defeated the GT Express 88-82 in exhibition action on Tuesday night at Solomon Court. Junior transfers Javorie Wilson (21 points) and Adam Drain (18 points) led the way for NU, while Jesse Dunn (11 points) and Jamaar Walker (10 points) also added double digits.
Pacing the Express was Mike Schmidt with 15 points and Rodney Hampton with 12. Former Husky Kirk Salesman added six points, four rebounds and two blocks for the visitors.
NU took a seven point lead into the half, 50-43, which was erased by a 10-2 Express run to start the second frame. The Express pushed their lead to a second half-high seven points, 75-82, with 3:12 remaining. NU then responded with a 13-0 run to come away with the victory 88-82.
The Huskies came out of the gates strong as they led 9-1 at 17:04 of the first half. Wilson scored eight-straight points as NU pushed its lead to nine, 17-8. The Express then responded with an 16-1 run of their own to take a 24-18 lead.
Northeastern fought back and pushed its lead to a first half high 10 points, 41-31, at 5:03. The Express went on a 10-1 run to cut the lead to one before the Huskies closed out the half with a five-point lead, 48-43.
NU next faces BABC on Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Solomon Court.
