Huskies host Utah State Saturday at noon
The Huskies play their first game at newly renovated Matthews Arena Saturday against Utah State at 12 p.m. The Aggies come to town fresh off a 30-5 season and have reached postseason play every year since 1999. The Huskies are playing Utah State for just the second time ever, beating the Aggies in the Great Alaska Shootout in 1986. Saturday's game will broadcast live on WRBB Radio, 104.9 FM. Free streaming audio will be available through the Husky Sports Network Audio, and live streaming video will be available at GoNU.TV. Saturday will mark the debut of the new "N-Zone" courtside student seating, and the first 500 students in the seats will receive an N-Zone t-shirt.

Huskies edged at Siena
The Huskies had a six-point halftime lead, but Siena came out of the second-half gate on an 18-3 run and held off a late NU rally to win 59-53 Tuesday at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. The game was played as part of ESPN's College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. Matt Janning led the Huskies with 14 points. The Huskies will play Utah State in their home opener Saturday at Matthews Arena at 12 p.m.

Janning named Preseason Mid-Major All-America
Northeastern men’s basketball senior captain Matt Janning was one of 25 players named to
Collegeinsider.com’s Preseason Mid-Major All-America team. Janning
earns his second preseason recognition of the year. He was named to the
CAA’s preseason All-Conference first team back in October. Janning and the Huskies open the 2009-10 season at Siena Tuesday at 12 p.m. on ESPN.

Janning's double-double leads black team to win
Matt Janning had a game-high 20 points to go with 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the black team to an 83-61 victory over the red team in the Huskies' Red vs. Black intrasquad scrimmage. The black team had five players in double figure scoring, including Baptiste Bataille (13), Jonathan Lee (11), Nkem Ojougboh (11) and Ben Felix (10). Manny Adako led the red team with 18 points, and Joel Smith chipped in 14. The Huskies open the 2009-10 season at Siena Tuesday at 12 p.m. on ESPN.

Huskies ranked 13th in Mid-Major Poll
The 2009-10 Huskies will open the season ranked 13th in the Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. Northeastern, which returns four starters from last season's team, is one of four CAA teams in the rankings, including Old Dominion (sixth), VCU (11th) and George Mason (12th). NU's season-opening opponent, Siena, is ranked third in the poll. That game takes place Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y., at 12 p.m. on ESPN and ESPN360.
