Varsity boat places 8th at IRA

The men's crew varsity boat finished eighth at the 2004 IRA Regatta Championship on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J. after placing second in the petite final.

The Huskies rowed a 6:12.4, second to Yale's 6:08.7.

This is NU's second eighth-place finish in three years, also finishing eighth in 2002. Last year, NU qualified for the grand final and finished fifth.

Harvard took the grand final of the IRA varsity eight with a time of 5:53.2.

The freshman boat took 11th while the varsity four boat finished 17th.
