The Men's Crew varsity boat, ranked fourth in the nation, beat eigth ranked Brown in the 40th annual Dreissigaker Cup on the Charles River Saturday morning.
Northeastern was in control of the race by the half way point, leading by a full length. The Huskies extended the lead to a length and a quarter at 1500 meters, eventually finishing with a time of 5:54.1 while Brown came in at 5:55.8.
Brown took the other two races, beating NU in the 2nd varsity 6:02.3 to 6:18.5 and in the freshman race 5:56.3 to 6:03.7.
With the win, the Huskies improve to 2-0 on the regatta season. Brown drops to 1-2. NU tied the all-time record with Brown at 20-20. The Huskies have now won the last three Dreissigaker Cups after Brown had taken the previous five from 1997-2001.
The varsity boat will look to make it three wins in a row when they take on Rutgers, a team it hasn't lost to since 1996, in the Congram Cup next Saturday, April 24 on the Charles River.
