The men's crew varsity boat upended Rutgers for their fourth Congram Cup win on the Charles River Saturday morning.
Northeastern came in with a time of 6:10.6 while Rutgers rowed a 6:12.3.
The two boats were even after the first 500 meters, but the Huskies took charge at the halfway mark with a six-seat lead and a length lead after 1500 meters. Rutgers closed the gap to half a length, but it was too late.
In the second varsity race, the Scarlet Knights easily beat NU 6:36.9 to 6:55.6.
In the freshman race, Trinity College was invited to join the Huskies and Scarlet Knights and fared well, rowing a 6:36.4. The Huskies won the race with a time of 6:31.4 while Rutgers came in last at 6:56.1.
The Huskies improve to 3-0 on the regatta season and next week, Saturday, May 1, they will have a showdown with top-ranked Harvard. The varsity race is at 9:12 a.m.
