NU downs Penn May 8, 2005 Charles RiverNortheastern edged Pennsylvania in the 36th rowing of the Burk Cup Sunday on the Charles. It was NU's 4th straight victory in the cup and their 17th overall win against 19 from Penn. The varsity finished 4-1 for the second straight season, while the 2nd varsity went undefeated.
At the settle NU held a one-seat lead, and by 500 had extended it to a three-seat margin. By 800 NU had open water on Penn and at the 1000-meter mark that lead had been extended to a length and three seats. From there NU cruised in, winning by over three lengths.
With this victory the Huskies should hold onto their current ranking of third in the EARC heading into the Eastern Sprints this weekend at Lake Quinsigamond.
