Harvard, the defending two-time national champion and number one ranked crew in the nation, defeated Northeastern by 7.1 seconds this Saturday on the Charles River. For the Crimson it was their eighth consecutive victory in the Smith Cup, in which they have 14 wins to NU's three.

Harvard and NU were even at the settle but by the 500-meter mark the Crimson had a four-seat advantage. At the 1000-meter half way mark they extended the lead to a length and at 1500 to a length and a quarter. Harvard crossed the finish line in 5:42.8 to Northeastern's 5:49.9 for a two-length victory.

In the most exciting race of the day, the NU second varsity took command at the 800-meter mark and rowed to a seven-seat victory. Harvard finished their regular rowing season undefeated at 6-0, while NU stands at 3-1 with Pennsylvania scheduled on the Charles next Sunday.
